2017 GBL Scholarship & Football Award Winners

Once again due to the continued support of our GBL Friends and sponsors we proudly present this year’s Get Busy Livin’ Community Foundation Scholarship awards.

From a large group of Crawford County high school applicants the following six individuals were selected. Each individual represents having a unique value of personal motivation with “no self-limitations”. They illustrate strong academic achievements, extracurricular participation, giving to others, leading by example, and are role models among their peers.

Will Schneider: Get Busy Livin’ Kpreps Player of the Year Award
Shawnee Mission North High School

For the sixth year the GBL Foundation along with Kpreps.com has selected the record setting quarterback and leader from a large group of well deserving applicants from across Kansas.

A four year starter at Shawnee Mission North, Will finished his career with a state record 8,901 yards. Additionally, he was a member of his student council, participated in the school's theater department and volunteered his spare time to various local charities and other youth focused sport groups.

As he learned about the GBL Foundation award from his high school coach, he became ecstatic and extremely proud to become this year’s recipient joining other previous winners that include: Rossville’s Tucker Horak, Bishop Carroll’s Denzel Goolsby, Shawnee Mission West’s Austin Chambers, Lawrence’s Brad Strauss and Madison’s Kole Schankie.

Will is currently attending William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri on a football scholarship and participated in several games this year. We wish Will the best of luck with his college career.

Elijah Harris: Pittsburg Football Purple Dragon Player of the Year

Each person is given a gift in life to succeed; however, it takes strong effort and purpose to make it happen… Elijah’s football at PHS exemplifies such actions. He became a four year defensive back starter; and earned All State awards for his junior and senior years. Most importantly he led PHS to great seasons as a leader and captain. Additionally, Elijah was a tremendous PHS baseball player controlling centerfield for four years with All State honors.

Elijah has currently red shirted with the PSU Gorillas football squad; and anxiously awaits spring baseball. GBL is honored to award this scholarship to him. We know Elijah has a great plan ahead for himself and those around him.

To all our Friends that participate in our annual 5K run event or follow us on Facebook/GBL site or generously sponsor our events we are truly grateful. Thanks.
