Youth Organization Volunteerism Grant 2016

For 2016, the Dylan Meier Get Busy Livin’ Foundation (GBL) is proud to announce a new program sponsoring youth volunteerism activities. The desire to serve others has always been ingrained in the GBL philosophy. Unbeknownst to Dylan he began volunteering early in his life through sports and various activities; first as a Pittsburg Purple Dragon, then as a Kansas State Wildcat, a Dresden Monarch, and a Milan Rhino teaching leadership, hard work and camaraderie to all those he came in contact with. Later he combined  his volunteering efforts with his love for adventure travelby WWOOFing his way across New Zealand working on organic farms (see the Captain Keith sailing story), as a painter, and as a waiter in an organic café, always seizing the moment and soaking up the beauty the fiords and people of New Zealand had to offer.  With that same enthusiasm the GBL proudly announces two new programs.

First, a specific fund has been established to provide matching grants to be used for the purpose of any and all activities relating to youth volunteerism. Applicants must simply describe the volunteer activity and explain how the funds will be used to complete their worthy cause. (see the application on southeastkansas.org) or contact sherri.stephens@southeastkansas.org for more information)

Second, in addition to the seven college GBL scholarships that will be awarded this year. TWO of the recipients will be selected to be our GBL representatives to the Maya Highlands region of Guatemala during the late summer of 2016. The individuals will participate in the Cross Cultural Solutions High School Volunteer Abroad Program (www.crossculturalsolutions.org) where they will experience firsthand the rewards of helping those who are less fortunate.

Your donations and participation in this year’s 5k run and walk will enable these programs to take flight. We want 2016 to be the year that Get Busy Livin’, gets busy givin.
